Sr. Mechanical Engineer

  • About the Role:

    L2F is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join its growing Engineering team. We are creating robotic systems never seen before in the commercial kitchen at this level of integration and scale. As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer you will be part of a cross-functional agile development team with direct responsibility for system mechanical/mechatronic design.

    You will lead engineers in the mechanical and mechatronic system design of novel custom robotic systems in the Food Tech arena. This includes complex mechanisms, structural and lightweight assemblies, electromechanical actuation of various flavors, and lots of supporting accouterment (electronics packaging, sheet metal, plastic parts, thermal management, etc.).

    You will be a recognized expert at L2F in mechanical and mechatronic design. Expect domestic travel around 10%-15% to support design and manufacturing efforts with our sister companies

  • A highly qualified candidate is/does:

    • MSME
    • Skilled at developing innovative mechanical/mechatronic systems
    • Always has strong underlying physics supporting their designs
    • Design of experiments and analysis of empirical data to draw design direction
    • Mentors junior engineers and provides technical guidance to the larger team
    • Creation and management of highly detailed and functional 3D models and detail drawings – you’ve used several CAD packages in your career
    • Expert in ASME Y14.5 and statistical methods for tolerance analyses

Product Manager

  • About the Role:

    Having been recently acquired by The Middleby Corporation, the world’s #1 food equipment manufacturer, our organization is expanding and growing. We are looking for a Product Manager to work closely with our engineering team to guide products from Lab2Fab.

    Everything we know about food service is going to be redefined when robotics, machine learning, AI, and IoT come together seamlessly in the kitchen. We are creating a future of food that will increase productivity and lower costs with unprecedented quality. As part of this process, the entire user experience will change.

    The Product Manager is responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting and tailoring automated solutions to meet the demands of Middleby customers. As part of L2F’s management team, you will bridge the technical and business worlds as you define products that chefs, restauranteurs, and foodies love.

  • Responsibilities:

    • Partner closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Finance and other product teams across Middleby to understand their vision, objectives and opportunities for strategic alignment.
    • Define overall strategy and roadmap for new products based on long-term product vision, user needs, technical and market trends, and platform capabilities.
    • Manage product life-cycle from inception through to execution and productization.
    • Manage the product execution working closely with Engineering, R&D, Industrial Design, Product Design and partner teams to engineer the best experience for our users.
    • Evaluate product design, CMF and production decisions as part of the product development lifecycle.

  • Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

    • BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 5 years of Product Management experience, with experience in automation, equipment, and/or food related product launches
    • Experience in working with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Design, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Customer Support, Partnerships, and Legal teams.
    • Experience with automated equipment development life cycles. Experience with personal, mobile and embedded device operating systems, and SW application development life cycles.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • MBA degree.
    • Experience in business operations. Demonstrated passion and talent for building and scaling products that are technically excellent, aesthetically appealing and easy to use.
    • Experience in the food equipment and/or food service industry.
    • Team-first outlook, with the ability to build great working relationships with peers across functions.
    • Strong technical, analytical and cross-functional collaboration skills.

As an Embedded Systems Engineer you will be part of a cross-functional agile development team with direct responsibility for developing our next-generation system platform, including algorithm development. You will lead the design of novel custom controls for devices and robotic systems in the Food Tech arena. This includes embedded system stack definition, component selection, and firmware architecture and development. You will be a recognized expert at L2F in embedded system firmware design.

    Expect domestic travel around 10%-15% to support design and manufacturing efforts with our sister companies.

  • A highly qualified candidate is/does:

    • MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
    • 10+ years of demonstrable success architecting embedded systems for device control, motion control, and IoT platforms
    • Demonstrable skills developing embedded systems with real hardware, robots, sensors, etc.
    • Skilled in C/C++, Python programming and real-time / embedded system design, debug, and testing in an Embedded Linux / RTOS environment
